The Joey Scout Motto is Help Other People
Joey Scouts learn through activities and playing games both indoors and outdoors, and facing new challenges where the older Joey Scouts learn to help the younger Joey Scouts.
Joey Scouts typically meet for one hour each week during school terms.
They learn about the world around them, through science, adventurous activities, overnight camps, and meeting with other Joey Scout Units. They learn team work, most often in adhoc groups.
Their achievements are recognised by the awarding of badges, which culminates in them reaching their peak award of The Joey Scout Challenge
Elements of respect and self discipline are introduced with opening and closing ceremonies.
A young girl or boy can join as a Joey Scout after their fifth birthday and attending school.
A Joey Scout advances to Cub Scouts through a "Going Up" ceremony, after they turn 7 1/2 and before their eighth birthday.
